New Way to Submit URL to Google

New Way to Submit URL to Google

Last week, Google announced a new way for website owners and webmasters to submit their site to the popular search engine by offering the option of requesting a specific single web page to be crawled.  This will allow webmasters to submit a specific page only, rather than the entire site after a new page is created or updated.   This is a nice advantage rather than waiting for the entire crawling process every time a site owner makes a change within their website.  This allows Google to be notified of only the new or revised page.

Submit URL Process

The new process to submit a URL is very simple and can be viewed by logging into their Google Webmaster account and then have Google fetch the specific page you want to submit or re-submit.  Typically, most URLs will be indexed within a day or two after being crawled, assuming it’s relevant enough and written correctly to be indexed after Google’s evaluation process.  With proper tools, you should know very quickly whether your new URL was indexed or not.

Additional Information on the New Google Submit URL Process

This new Google URL submission feature is a great feature for anyone who adds new pages to their site or even launching a new website, especially if it is time sensitive or important information.  Webmasters will also have the option to include single directories as well as links within a page.  Google’s new URL submission process does have some limitations however such as being limited to 50 single URL submissions per week and only 10 a month when submitting URLs with links going to other pages.  This change also comes with Google updating their public option of “Add your URL to Google” form that has been open to the public.  It is now called “Crawl URL Form” which doesn’t require owner verification anymore.

We use Google Webmaster Tools on a daily basis and are very excited about this recent change as a very big part of our SEO process includes on-site optimization such as changes including new pages.  The new way for website owners to submit URL comes shortly after major changes including their Panda update and their attempt to get into social media.
